Infant Enrichment Programme
While St Margaret’s offers a range of clubs and activities for the girls across the different age groups, we are now also running a bespoke Infants Enrichment Programme for any of our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils who stay behind after school.
One of our teaching assistants, Gilly Longton, used to be part of the Blue Peter production team before changing careers, and she now also runs an out-of-school art club. She has used her extensive skills to put together an Enrichment Programme each afternoon after school, which features a selection of different activities ranging from cookery to art to music and movement.
Following a light snack at the end of the school day at 3.20pm, the girls embark on a host of creative projects. One week, they may learn about a particular artist and make their own artwork, headdress and doll’s house room inspired by that individual. Another week, they could be exploring the power of make believe and magic, making wands and inventing spells, stories or plays.
Lego challenges, batiking, tie-dying, cooking and ballet are all part of these stimulating sessions that are designed to entertain and challenge the girls, while also encouraging independent thinking and honing motor skills in a relaxed and fun environment. To wind down at the end of their busy day before they go home at 4.30pm, the girls enjoy a spot of story-telling or do some gentle yoga or mindfulness
The aim of this after-school programme is to provide our youngest pupils with a worthwhile, stimulating end to their school day. Our regular curriculum already provides the girls with an ambitious and individualised academic plan, while the after-school programme complements this by giving them extra time to explore the more creative side of education.
The Infants Enrichment Programme is free of charge and parents must simply sign up their children by booking in on the Late Room page on the website the week before they are due to attend. You do not need to sign them up for the whole week but can drop in and out on whichever day you wish. We look forward to seeing the girls there!
Please find below the weekly timetables, which will be updated throughout the term.
