Remote Learning

Covid-19 Remote Learning at St Margaret’s School

Adapting to the requirements of remote learning during the lockdown and beyond was made easier at the School as from an early age our girls are taught to use the Google Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. In addition, some classes were used to using Google Classroom already, so migrating our teaching onto this format was relatively straightforward.

All of our Senior girls are issued with Google Chromebooks, and we had sufficient spares that every girl in the school could be loaned a laptop computer to ensure that she was able to fully access our learning. From the beginning of the Autumn Term 2020 all girls from Year 3 upwards have been issued with Google Chromebooks so should there be a future need for online learning from home, this will streamline the process further.

Lessons were presented in a variety of ways, from live Google Meet sessions, to pre-recorded video introductions, to online set activities and work. We also delivered our extracurricular programme in this way.

The feedback we received from parents was exceptionally positive, and it is likely that we will adopt a similar approach should the need arise in future.
