The Friends of St Margaret’s, the parent-based fund raising association of the St Margaret’s school community, warmly welcomes all new parents and girls. We organise events during each term to raise funds to contribute not only to equipment and teaching aids for the school, but part of our proceeds go to charities both near and far. In the past we have supported many British based charities as well as projects in India and Sri Lanka. We have a close association with the Principal and meet regularly with him to discuss not only fund raising, but other issues that affect our daughters’ school lives. We hope that you will be able to join in some or all of the various social events we arrange, some of which are combined with the girls’ school activities. Generally we have one social event a term, culminating with the Summer Fair in June. The format of the Summer Fair is set to change significantly in 2009 and ideas are flying fast and furious to make it better than ever. We also very much hope that you may like to take an active role in the Friends by helping with the planning and organisation of our various functions; the no-obligation ‘membership’ is open to all interested parents (there are no elected posts) and our meetings, which are held a couple of times a term, are brief, informal and fun. New ideas for fund raising, and new approaches to some of our tried and tested functions are, like new faces, always welcome.
