A-Z GIRLS GIRLS

Pastoral Care Policy PDF Print E-mail

St Margaret’s has a deserved reputation for the excellence of our pastoral care. Being part of the St Margaret’s community means that a girl is joining an environment where each girl’s personal needs are treated as importantly as her academic needs. If you would like to read an independent evaluation of the school’s pastoral care then please click here to download our most recent inspection report.

The pastoral care of the pupils at St Margaret’s is taken extremely seriously, especially as happy and fulfilled children perform better at school.  Pupils are fully supervised by staff during break times. (The school has its own designated fully trained Child Protection Officer).

Form teachers, house staff or the Principal and his Deputy are readily available to meet with parents to discuss matters of a more confidential or personal nature.   The School has fully qualified first aiders among the teaching and support staff.

The School has a School Council where elected pupils from Years 4 to11 are given the opportunity to bring issues of concern to the Principal.
All Year11 pupils are also offered positions of responsibility in the role of prefects and house prefects.  They are also used for ‘buddy reading’ with the younger years.

No school can ever be totally risk free and regular risk assessments are made within the school and always before any school trip. Fire Drills and practices take place every school term. Visitors are always required to sign in at the office.
